Leveraging AI to Spark Creativity - Luma Labs and More

A full week last week - Looking at how Google could be punishing SEO, learning about how Perplexity can be used to help create Chrome extensions with limited coding experience, pro marketing tips from expert market Sabri Suby, and more. Let's get into it!

  1. YouTube is experimenting with serverside ad injection so that ad block/skip extensions no longer work. While on the topic of the big G, Moz did some experimenting with SEO practices that Google suggests. While doing the opposite of what Google suggested Moz found several improvements in SEO performance. That’s why it’s so important to test various forms and structures of the content, especially when it comes to on-page SEO. Maybe Google’s recent algorithm updates do punish SEO?
  2. Some sweet lofi vibes from the Buildspace virtual (live) coworking space after the lab on Thursday to help get the focused work flowing.
  3. Making videos from AI prompts is becoming much easier. Luma Labs now takes text and image prompts and converts them into video with several settings that can be used to create cinematic experiences.
  4. I discovered a useful tool that leverages AI to help generate mind maps and it’s 100% free. It appears that the original use case is for generating mind maps for courses. If you’re trying to build a course take note. I personally am going to use it for mapping out my Buildspace project - it’s idea week.
  5. There seems to be an abundance of AI SaaS ideas and as a software engineer, it’s nice to have boilerplates to spin up an MVP with minimal coding. BuilderKit is the AI SaaS boilerplate for devs looking to ship their “AI SaaS in days.” With some previous React and NextJS experience, and some database and server knowledge it may be easier now to launch an idea in a weekend.
  6. Anthropic released Claude 3.5 Sonnet this past week, with 2x the speed, and a focus on “State of the art vision” and the introduction of Artifacts, integrating a more collaborative user workflow experience. One example, I find interesting is let’s say it outputs some CSS - I can visualize the CSS on the right side of the text prompts. Going to be test-driving one in the coming days.
  7. This weekend I launched a site for a client using the Dev Dojo’s Static page generator and deployed it with Netlify. Pretty easy to use and if you’re into building custom landing pages this might just be the tool for the job.
  8. It still may be a bit before AI agents fully take over writing code and building projects but folks with some technical experience and limited coding ability have the opportunity to try their hand at building/debugging small projects with the support of AI. Watch David Ondrej build a Chrome extension in less than 40 minutes with the help of Perplexity. Not bad.
  9. In 46 minutes Sabri Suby - drops 17 years of excellent marketing advice that everyone learning marketing or improving their marketing skills should watch. Here are 2 of my top key takeaways:
  • Learn and understand the difference between paid and organic marketing including the nuances of each.
  • Learn to write well - effective writing for marketing does not need to exceed a 6th-grade writing level and get good at hooks and framing. I’m trying the Hemingway app as a resource to improve my writing skills.
  1. To become an expert or a craftsman requires much time and patience. NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang recently told the story of a gardener he met in Kyoto, Japan, who truly understood the meaning of cultivation and the time required to cultivate a beautiful garden. If my purpose and life work are like that of a garden, I must ask whether I’m dedicating the time necessary to grow like that garden.

That’s a wrap. A lot of thoughts on the latest SEO trends including some AI tools to help speed up projects. Thanks for reading and have a great week!
